Which amp to power the new comps?

After much debate, I swear I was like Favre on the decision, I bought Dynaudio System240 mk2's.

Now, I need an amp to power them. Out of these two, which would you go with?

Cadence: http://www.woofersetc.com/p6029/ZRS2...-Amplifier.htm

Soundstream: http://www.woofersetc.com/p7744/REF4...-Amplifier.htm

Any other suggestions?

1) Why are you comparing a 2-chan X 200w rms amp to a 4-chan 4 X 115w rms one? That's a bogus comparo.

2) With the 4-chan in the picture, what's your goal here? Are you going passive permanently, or is there a plan to go active in the future?

3) What's your exact budget for this amp? If you don't want to break the bank and go passive... this ARC Foose amp is as underrated on power output than the Dyns are on power handling, apparently.

The thought on the Soundstream was to bridge to 2 channels and provide 380wrms to front as opposed to 200wrms with the Cadence, even though the Dyn's are "rated" at 100rms.

All I hear about is how components are under rated when it comes to RMS numbers. I've read where you need "headroom" and clean power etc. etc.

My goal is to power these components properly and if neither one of those amps will do that, for whatever reason, then thats why I'm asking you guys.

I like ARC amps like the one you recommmend, however my 9886 has 4v preouts and the ARC's input sensitivity is 2.5v, isn't that a problem?

All I am looking for is an amp that will properly and cleanly power this set of components and be compatible with my HU.

With that kind of power on tap, I'd make sure the amp still doesn't send a crazy amount of power to the comps at full unclipped deck preout voltage. If you want to play them super loud, cross them higher... i've seen comps crossed around 120 Hz for that reason.

Both have PLENTY of clean juice to power the Dyns.

Gotcha. And that rings a bell too, you must have made a similar thread in the last weeks or so.

If you had the money for the Ref amp and want 'lots of headroom', why not try an older Nak? Clean clean.

Cheaper than the Nak, good but not as clean: http://www.woofersetc.com/p472/X2002...-Amplifier.htm

You'd still be fine w/ 150w per ($229): http://www.woofersetc.com/p6027/ZRS1...-Amplifier.htm

Bridge this one?

http://www.woofersetc.com/p4282/SRX-...-Amplifier.htm

...i'm sure those ideas were tossed out in the other thread too.

Thanks for the recommendations. Yeah I was in the middle of deciding between components, getting recommendations like focal, morel, rainbow and on and on, comparo this and comparo that and amps were brought up in that thread as you mention, but the thread turned to mainly comps first.

Now that I have the components, detailed info on correct amps is what I was after and you have given me some good advice/choices.

This stuff isn't cheap, I don't mind spending it I just want to be very impressed when I'm done.

Thanks for taking the time to answer!
