Has anyone ever hooked up a car with 4" stock front speakers?
fi you did, what did u do? did u use 4 inch components? or 4" coaxials? or did u modify the door to fit bigger speakers? im in that situation now and i don't know how to go about it. i have a 1985 honda accord.

For sound quality reasons you shouldnt use rear speakers. Therefor you would have to fit atleast 5.25" components up front. Best would be 6.5" though.
4" speakers all by themselves are just not loud enough. So if you end up going with 4" speakers up front you will likely need rear speakers as well. An amplifier helps a lot if you want them to just be louder. Also if your getting good speakers then you may want to sound deaden the doors since you will likely have to open them up anyways to install the speakers. Sound deadening will make it have a lot more midbass and sound batter. Especially in a honda. They are rattle boxes. What speakers are you thinking about getting? |

If your not gonna keep that old Honda much longer then I wouldnt worry to much about it. Hell, I would cut out larger holes in the doors if you plan on vesting alot of time into this car. I had that problem in a old 84 Mazda back in the day and just cut 6.5" holes in the doors. Worked out fine.

Use a 1" spacer and you should find a 6" speaker will fit in a 4" hole. Mine worked out fine.
