Opinion on american bass

I bought the american bass PH-4000 MD. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on american bass products and this amp in general.

It will be running a Dayton RSS265HO-4 10" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm. In a small sealed box.7-.9 cuft

Thanks

I don't know much about the hd series but it looks pretty solid.

I have been competing for a few seasons in DB drag and meca and usaci and American Bass is the most used amplifier currently used by competitors because of their build quality and power output DC audio is probably the next most used and then stetsom which makes tons of power but also has a lot of reliability problems.
I have also seen American bass subs do very well in competition. Competition will destroy lesser products in a hurry.

I've ran a few AB amps and have been happy over the years.

I currently have a VFL1100.1, which is an absolute beast. (amp is for sale by the way)

myn will become famous soon enough

The Phantom series by American Bass uses the Sound Magus board/internals which is the same guts as what Massive Audio Nano series uses.

AB PH2500 = Massive Audio N3
AB PH4000 = Massive Audio N4

On a positive note, the AB variant seems to be obtainable for a cheaper price then their Massive Audio counterpart.

The PH4000 has been compared against the AQ2200 and said to be "louder" here --> http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/boa...st__p__1686307

Here is a formal review by PASMAG on it's little brother (PH2500)

http://www.pasmag.com/car-audio/repo...***-ph-2500-md

I've compiled all of this information because I'm researching new amps too and had this amp on my shortlist.

AB doesn't really do much design or any of the building of their products.

That's not a bad thing though. The build houses that do design and build the products seem to do a good job and the products are shared amongst many other popular companies. They do a good job of choosing which products to offer and AB does it at a great price.
