Mono block safe mode help

Hi looking for some help with a friends phoenix gold xenon 400.1 going into safe mode he is having to turn the sensitivity and bass on the amp to max to get any performance from the sub (Rockford p3 10' dvc 4 ohm) I have gone over all the wireing and connections everything is good he is running a 8guage power and ground with a 80amp inline fuse I'm thinking the issue is he is running a deh3300ub deck and seems like it's not outputting enough signal to the amp so it's having to over power itself and trip into safe mode any ideas would be great

Disconnect the hu and hook up an ipod or something similar.

first thing is check the subwoofers resistance measurement with a digital multimeter.

if the sub is going bad it will not play correctly and trip the amps protection circuit.

then if the sub checks out you can do the ipod test to test to see if its the amp.

Brand new sub just put it in, if I disconnect the deck will the remote lead still trigger the amp to turn on?

not if you remove power to the deck and you are using the amp trigger provided by the deck.
