PPI vs. Soundstream vs. Orion vs JL audio Amps

Are these amps very similar in quality. Can anyone give advice on which to choose. They all seem to be similar in price range.

Looking for 100 x 2 power.

Any experience comparing the brands.

yes all good amps but one thing about ppi is they just went out of business and got bought by dei just to let you know. But i have had bad experiences with the soundsteams blowing up!!!! but i think that problem was fixed i hear but not for sure. PPI are still exellent amps just worring bout what is going to happen to the company.

good luck.

I've had Soundstream in the past and I have PPI now. I couldn't say anything bad about either manufacture.

Comps or subs?

They are all known to be of quality, but they take different approaches to their product lines.

The only amps I don't have experience with are the JL's. If you are looking for a front (non sub) amp, they do have the advantage of being able to dump all their power into stereo 4 ohm loads (2 channel amps). No other manufacturer that I know of makes amps like these yet.

But, you can bridge almost any 4 channel from the above manufacturers and tap the amp's full capability (4 ohm stereo). Each channel will deliver power as if it were each driving a 2 ohm load.

PPI didnt go out of business... DEI acquired ADST, which is the parent company for a/d/s/, Orion, and PPI...

All of those amps are nice, but I'd have to say that the JL amps top them all w/ featuers and tweakability...

Really? Interesting, glad they went to a capable company. Never realized Dei was big enough to take on adst (make lots o home audio besides). There are just too many smaller companies working on big technology. Their combined resources should put them all on the cutting edge. Notice the increased similiarities between Jbl and Infinity (both owned by Harmon).

Now only if someone respectable would pick up soundstream...

I would have to disagree... Soundstream amps, if he gets the Rubicon series, are amazingly underrated... the 502 tested out in carsound at 1010w into a 2 ohm reactive load... its rated at 500x1...

These amps are pushng out hellacious watts at low distortion rates. I haven't seen much else around here as far as db drags go!

personally i only have experience with the Orion amps and the JL amps seeing as how i run JL amps.

the old orions are extremely under rated, the new ones arn't quite as good...

the jl's are excellent, they are underrated moderately and offer kick *** SQ with the right amount of SPL

personal opinion...i'd go with the JL

damn where did that come from?

make sure you don't get a class D for the mid-highs. Orion amps are some of the best amps out there. I have a PPI A600 and a 250 HCCA and the HCCA is louder eventhough it is rated at 50x2
and the PPI is 150x2...to me the HCCA is more detailed and peaky because of the unregulated power supply, the PPI on the other hand sounds dead, flat and smooth...jmo
