JL 10W7 - Which Kicker KX 600.1 or 1200.1 amp?

Well,

I stopped by the local stereo shop on the way home last night with some CD's in hand and walked out with a JL 10W7. I'm pretty sure I can get this mutha to fit. Now lies the issue of powering it.

Now everyone is gonna have their opinion on which manufacture of amps, etc - ok - I choose Kicker (have heard various opinions)

I already have a Kicker KX300.2 for the front components and want to stick with that series for the sub. My question is, I know KX's are underated to a certain degree. The 10W7 is a 3ohm sub and optimum wattage is 500. The KX600.1 is rated at 600watts@2 ohms, I figure somewhere in there I'm gonna lose somethin'.

According to Kicker's specs, the KX1200.1 is rated at 1200 watts@1ohm. (Is that 1ohm a misprint? I really hate this ohm crap). For a system that is geared more toward SQ. I figure the KX600 I'll be kinda pushing to it's limits, while the KX1200 should be just fine.

So, with that said "HELP!!!!!!" - which one should I go for?

rwillis23 is an unknown quantity at this point

1200.1, w/ the 600 you'll be lucky to get 400-450 watts into the w7. Would sound better w/ the 1200.1

the 1200.1 will probably do the same output or a little more than the 600.1 at 3 ohms. this is the problem with the JL's its hard to find a good amp for them.

I went out to Etronics just to check out the specs.... The 1200.1 is 1200@1ohm, then 600@2ohm... which is the same as the KX600.1.

Double Damn - and I thought building a car was a PITA

If I'm misunderstanding the specs, by all means correct me.

I run my 12w7 off an arc 2500 at 3ohms... pushes it hard and clean...i always perfer a/b power to class D for sq... there's also the Us amps 2000x, kicker zr1000 should work too.

power is power really, and I don't think the wooder would know the power (in SQ) difference between a Class A/B amp, and a class D...
